ARCARIUM is a comprehensive and universal digital environment for working with manuscripts at the Jagiellonian Library, specifically designed for this purpose and integrated with the Jagiellonian Digital Library.

It supports all processes related to the digitisation of manuscripts held by the Jagiellonian Library, their cataloguing, online access, and long-term preservation, and enables their effective integration into global scholarly information resources. ARCARIUM was developed and funded as part of the Flagship Project European Heritage in the Jagiellonian Library: Digital Authoring of the Berlin Collections (DiHeLib), carried out under the Excellence Initiative – Research University programme.

ARCARIUM consists of a knowledge base containing metadata and digitised manuscripts, as well as accompanying interfaces that facilitate a wide range of manuscript research.

At present, the database allows users to search within parts of the Autograph Collection (Sammlung Autographa) and parts of the Varnhagen Collection (Sammlung Varnhagen).
