Professor at the Jagiellonian University, Director of the Jagiellonian Library, and a research and teaching staff member at the Institute of Information Studies, Faculty of Management and Social Communication, Jagiellonian University. He is a member of the National Library Council and the Team for the National Library Resource.

His research focuses on scholarly communication, academic librarianship, information behaviour, and information management, as well as on the methodology of information science and the concept of the information subject. He has published in leading international journals, including Journal of Academic Librarianship, Library and Information Science Research, Aslib Journal of Information Management, Information Research, Libri, and Scientometrics, as well as in Polish journals. He is the author of two books and the editor of another.
