She is employed as Professor at the Institute of Romance Philology at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, and a researcher in the field of linguistics. She studied Romance Philology at the Jagiellonian University, and Finno-Ugrian Philology at the University of Helsinki. She specialises in historical and typological linguistics, sociolinguistics, and historical-cultural studies, with a particular interest in the evolution of communication through the media and the rise of electronic technologies and their use of language. Her main research is focused on the links between Indo-European and Uralic languages.
